About
Welcome
I am Andre Estephan, Ed.D., a psychotherapist with 15 years of professional experience working as a counselor, marriage and family therapist, group therapist, executive and clinical director of a mental health treatment center, training seminar presenter, pastoral counselor, and spiritual director. I have worked in both outpatient and residential treatment settings and have had the honor of helping people from various cultural and religious backgrounds, always tailoring treatment to the needs of the whole person.
Education
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Theology and Religious Pedagogy at the University of Strasbourg, France in 1990, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University in Texas in 1998 and my Doctorate in Counselor Education, from Texas Southern University, in Houston in 2005. I received as well master level courses in spiritual direction and spiritual theology at the Catholic University of Dallas.
Credentials and Experience
After completing a three-year internship at the family counseling department of Catholic Charities in Houston, Texas, I worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from 2004 until I moved to California in November, 2011. During this period, I provided counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups in both private and residential settings. I also accepted the position of Clinical Director and C.E.O of a residential treatment center for Catholic men and women religious and Church ministers where I provided leadership as well as assessment, psychotherapy, group therapy, and training workshops for several years. In California, I have taught classes in psychological assessment and premarital counseling at Mt. St. Mary College in Los Angeles and I am currently working in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Pasadena, Claremont and the nearby cities.
Specializations
I have received intensive training in the treatment of sexual addiction (currently a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist CSAT), completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), and received solid training and experience in working with adult survivors of childhood abuse or neglect. In addition, I have more than five years of experience working with both male and female Catholic ministers, including pastors, priests, deacons, seminarians and religious sisters, both in residential and outpatient treatment settings.
More about Me
I enjoy the simple things in life and appreciate family, friendships, random acts of kindness, prayer, meditation, and a gentle walk in nature or on the beach. I love music, sports, and photography and strive to live a balanced life, honoring and nurturing to the best of my ability all the dimensions of my human existence—body, mind, spirit, and relationships.
